Beds not very comfortable, building and carpet areas looking old and needed replacing.
Staff were all very cheerful and helpful. We chose Japanese style breakfast each morning, different each day, and we really enjoyed it.
The building and surroundings looking old. There are no restaurants in close proximity.
Meet expectations from Ryokan. Japanese style testimonial was successful. Japanese bath, room services and breakfast are entertaining. Authentic workers teaching you to eat soup with chopsticks and showing the ways of food preparation. Very cute and impressive.
The Room smells weird and the noise
Never ever again
Have said by it all
We hated the place. No English. No lifts and we were on the third floor. No shower in room. Stay away from this place
Super hotel and great place to visit
Nothing. Everything was just perfect.
On arrival in Takayama it was easy to find and walk to from the station. The hotel was traditional Japanese style and our Ryokan room was spacious and really lovely. The staff were delightful and friendly. We had a choice of Japanese or Western type breakfast and enjoyed both. The hotel had a separate Onsen bath for men and ladies which we found very relaxing. Easy to walk to many of the places of interest and this city should most certainly be included in your travels.
In major need of refurbishment.
Close to station. Traditional style accommodation.
Semi modern ryokan in the lovely town of Takayama. Very close to the station, friendly hosts, some rooms have a private bathroom as well as the public onsen available. We stayed for two nights and used Takayama as a base for exploring the surrounding areas. Beds were comfortable, room fairly spacious by Japan standards. The hosts were helpful with accepting a luggage delivery for me before I arrived, the package was in my room upon check-in.
Handy location and great place to stay
Great location close to the bus terminus and the railway station. Walking distance to all sights, cafes and restaurants. Hot tub/onsen was great. Enjoyed our stay. Nice to have our name greet us on the board at the entrance and very organised system for storing shoes at the door.
Awesome experience of traditional Japanese Accomodation with great location and lovely baths
A lift would have been handy, we were on the third floor, but they helped us up with our luggage :)
Awesome traditional Japanese accomodation, beds on the floor were really really comfy, we travelled with a toddler and had our own toilet, while we couldn’t take her in the public bath we both enjoyed taking turns and relaxing in the baths, which were split male and female anyway, we both had the baths to ourselves and enjoyed the experience. Staff were really friendly and location was perfect. Loved our stay here! A real highlight
Lovely traditional ryokan with lots of space and a super onsen.
The rooms were lovely - traditional tatami and yukata. Be aware that "shared bathroom" rooms only have access to the onsen, not to western-style bathrooms. The onsen is amazing though - really clean and tidy. Really central location.
A good stay for a short period of time. Nice to experience a traditional Japanese inn.
Hard to find via google maps. Hair was on the wall in the shower which was gross. Very firm mattresses.
The entrance way was lovely. First public Onsen experience we both had to ourselves. Staff were clear with explaining everything upon arrival. Easy to get around to areas nearby for food etc. a good location to get to the old town, market and walk to the train station. Good wifi available in rooms.
We wouldn't stay there again and wouldn't recommend.
Shower did not work - rated a 0 out of 10 Air condition also did not work well - 2 out of 10
Wish I would have picked a different place.
Bed very uncomfortable. Place looks pretty worn.
pretty good location
If you are into something really authentic and vintage - that is the perfect place.
Guests should be pretty organized to enjoy the stay. The time for the public bath is limited. The breakfast time is set up. The rooms are pretty old.
Great location and authentic style. Nice food in the morning, kind staff.
No lift/elevator and no one to help with the bags up 2 floors. Communal shower only on the ground floor. In the info it did not imply this. Breakfast was not buffet, you could choose either English or Japanese style. The first morning they were very slow about 15 mins to bring our breakfast tray.
Location was good, though the instructions direct you to the rear of the hotel
This place was close to the train station and to many restaurants and sites. The room was very large, clean, and comfortable.
